Finding confidence, connection and her place
For Daisy, OLSH College has quickly became a place where she feels supported, valued and encouraged to be herself. Through strong relationships, a focus on wellbeing, and opportunities to pursue her love of music, Daisy has grown in confidence and independence.
Daisy shares some insights on starting her high school journey at OLSH College.
Q: How did the transition process help you find your place and support you when you started at OLSH College?
A: The teachers really care about how you’re going, not just your schoolwork. If you’re finding something difficult, they help you work through it instead of just giving you the answer. It makes you feel more confident in yourself.
Being in a class with all-girls, we encourage each other to participate without feeling self-conscious.
Q: In Year 7 you received the Domina Nostra Award for living out the Pillars of OLSH Education. What did this mean to you?
A: It was really special to receive this recognition because it acknowledges the kind of person you are, not just what you achieve. It made me feel proud and encouraged me to keep contributing positively and living out the values that are important at OLSH College.
Q: How have your interests been supported at OLSH College?
A: I love playing piano and at OLSH College I can have music tuition lessons during the school day. I have also had opportunities to perform at events. It’s a really supportive environment, and performing in front of an audience has stretched me out of my comfort zone. Being part of the OLSH Band has helped me build connections with students in other year levels.
